Southwest RC Truckers

About Us

 Who are we?

We are a really friendly bunch of scale RC model truck enthusiasts, who are dedicated to the hobby, sharing our ideas, and having fun!

We are constantly growing in members due to our reputation and in being one of the few RC truck "clubs" in the UK. Although based near Bristol, we have members throughout the UK and Europe.

We pride ourselves on our friendship, openness and passion for this hobby.

We have built up many friends over the years in the hobby, both old and new.

What are RC model trucks?

Our trucks are just like the trucks seen on roads throughout the world, just a lot smaller! Most of our models are 1/14 or 1/16 scale models of European and American trucks, such as Scania, Volvo, Kenworth, etc.

Many of the models are built 'out of the box', others are extensively modified and enhanced, and some are 'scratchbuilt' by our extremely talented members.

The models are Radio Controlled, using 40Mhz or 2.4 Ghz transmitters and receivers, to control, speed, steering, or scaled down features seen on our 1:1 scale 'big brothers'!

How much you build into your truck is down to personal taste.

About our Meets

We hold regular ‘Truck Meets’ most months, at the Shireway Community Centre, Shireway, Yate, Nr. Bristol, BS37 8YS, usually on a Saturday or Sunday, the dates of the ‘Meets’ appear in the Upcoming Events section to the right of this page. Please feel free to visit one of our meets to see what it is all about.

The ‘Truck Meets’ are an opportunity for us to get together and run our trucks on our ever expanding layout, have a chat, refreshments, talk about ideas for our trucks, discuss problems, and have a fun day “playing” with our ‘Big Boys Toys’!
